The Department of Science and Technology-Food and Nutrition Research Institute is looking for qualified applicants for the following positions:

One (1) Senior Science Research Specialist

Salary Grade: 19 (49,835.00/month)

Minimum Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree relevant to the job

Experience: Two years of relevant experience

Training: Eight hours of relevant experience

Eligibility: Career Service (Professional)/ Second Level Eligibility

Preferred Qualifications/ Attributes:

Preferably BS in Food Technology, MS units in Food Science or related fields will be an advantage

Preferably with experience in food product development, knowledgeable in experimental design, process optimization and standardization and Knowledgeable in food safety

Brief functions of the position:

  • Prepares project proposals and presentations for funding and approval;
  • Leads in the conduct of researches and activities on food R&D;
  • Supervise the conduct of food product development and evaluates data generated thereof;
  • Prepares technical, progress, and terminal reports;
  • Prepares utility model for IP protection and journal article for publication;
  • Conducts patentsearch and preparespatent/utility model documents for IP protection;
  • Conducts and acts as resource person on FNRI Commercializable technologies,
  • Provides technology assistance and renders consultancy services on food technology;
  • Participates in working committee and technical working group assignment;
  • Performs related works and other duties assigned by the supervisor

One (1) Science Research Specialist

Salary Grade: 13 (29,798.00/ month)

Preferred Qualifications/ Atributes:

Preferably with knowledge and skills in nuclear techniques applications

Knowledgeable in mineral availability, phytonutrients and glycemiC index analyses

Familiar in computer software operations

Has average verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills

Has positive work attitudes, has initiative, innovative and multi-tasker

Able to work with minimum supervision

Brief functions of the position:

  • Supervises the work of a small group of researchers and technicians engaged in intervention studies related to body composition and nutrition utilizing nuclear technology
  • Manages contract research involving mineral availability, phytonutrient, antioxidant and glycemic index analyses
  • Prepares research proposals, technical reports and scientific manuscripts for publications
  • Monitors and conducts approved researches and studies of the unit/section
  • Analyzes and interprets results of researches and studies
  • Serves as member of technical or non-technical institutional committees, and
  • Performs other related work and other duties assigned by the supervisor

One (1) Administrative Aide IV (Clerk I)- Permanent

Salary Grade: 4 (14,993.00/ month)

Brief functions of the position:

  • Encodes correspondence report and other documents;
  • Prepares procurement plan; purchase request and other documents in relation to the acquisition of supplies for the Planning Evaluation Unit (PEU)
  • Maintains systematic filling of records, Receives and releases documents
  • Answers/makes official phone calls
  • Provides assistance in various meetings coordinated ad participated by PEU
  • Performs special duties assigned by the Director and/or Supervisor

One (1) Administrative Aide IV (Accounting Clerk 1)

Salary Grade: 4 (14,993.00/per month)

Preferred Qualifications/ Attributes:

BS in Accountancy, Management or other related fields (Undergraduate of at least 2 years)

Training on bookkeeping, (NC I1, TESDA) or any related Accounting Training/ Seminar Is an advantage

Familiarity with bookkeeping and basic accounting procedures;

Ability to perform filling and record-keeping tasks;

Data Entry and word processing skills;

Above average verbal / written communication and interpersonal skills

Able to work with minimum supervision

Brief functions of the position:

  • Reviews the completeness of supporting documents, complete & correct details, and proper amount in the Disbursement Vouchers, Purchase Orders, Contracts and Liquidation
  • Reports under Regular Agency Fund and co0ordinates immediately with the end-user/payee for any corrections or lack of supporting documents;
  • Prints and attaches the Journal Entry Vouchers (JEV) per transaction to financial reports and forwards the reports to COA;
  • Prepares Statement of Account and Order of payment and 2307;
  • Performs related work and other duties assigned by the supervisor

One (1) Administrative Officer I (Cashier 1)

Salary Grade: 10 (22,190.00/month)

Minimum Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree relevant to the job

Experience: None required

Eligibility: Career Service (Professional) / Second Level Eligibility

Preferred Qualifications/ Attributes:

Basic knowledge on Microsoft Office Application;

With background knowledge in Government Accounting Manual (GAM);

Attention to details.

Brief functions of the position:

  • Receives money or checks from various payor and issues official Receipt as Acknowledgement;
  • Prepares deposit slips and other documents for submission to bank and deposit collections to the bank;
  • Attends to transactions between the depository bank (Land bank) and FNRI;
  • Prepare Reports of collections and deposits to be submitted to Accounting and other documents as required by COA and GAM;
  • Files Official Receipts and Order and Payments; and
  • Initials and signs pertinent papers such as certification of salary for various loans.
